What can happen if an application fails? A. When a device, connection or application fails, it can take down mission critical operations. Sometimes, one systems failure will cascade to applications on other systems that rely on the data or services from the failed unit. How exhaust air is returned to the cooling units within the data center is as important a consideration as the distribution of cool air to the servers. Hot aisle and cold aisle techniques must be extended to include evaluation of airflow dynamics. At higher power densities the amount of space required to house cooling equipment will overtake the number of cabinets. Alternate approaches, or a reduction in the amount of equipment housed in each cabinet, must be considered. Hardware assets should be used well after their depreciated financial life has ended — for as long as is technically possible. This allows you to keep your data even if you lose your computer. With the Cisco UCS 82598KR-CI adapters, a maximum of two adapters are presented to the VMware ESX hypervisor running on the blade. This interface count does not support a fabric failover, and the service console must be migrated to the Cisco Nexus 1000V Series Switch along with all these other adapter types if any high-availability requirement exists. Building green IT systems do come with an added cost. For example, two storage processors may be provided in a system such that if one fails, the other assumes the operation of the failed processor as well asmaintaining its own. However, total redundancy is expensive and can be an inefficient use of system resources. Nexus sets the stage for converged Fibre Channel and Ethernet networks.
