Do all companies manage their own equipment in a data center? A. No. The management of IT and data center facilities are often outsourced to third party companies that specialize in the monitoring, maintenance and remediation of systems and facilities on a shared services basis. How exhaust air is returned to the cooling units within the data center is as important a consideration as the distribution of cool air to the servers. Hot aisle and cold aisle techniques must be extended to include evaluation of airflow dynamics. Alternate approaches, or a reduction in the amount of equipment housed in each cabinet, must be considered. Storage virtualization is the pooling of physical storage from multiple network storage devices into what appears to be a single storage device that is managed from a central console. Storage virtualization is commonly used in storage area networks (SANs). Application virtualization separates applications from the hardware and the operating system, putting them in a container that can be relocated without disrupting other systems. Data backup can take many forms. After all, any medium on which you save your files apart from your primary computer is considered backup. You might even want to backup your data in more than one location, just in case. If you depend highly upon your computer and upon the files contained therein, you can never be too careful when it comes to protecting your files from disaster. With the Cisco UCS 82598KR-CI adapters, a maximum of two adapters are presented to the VMware ESX hypervisor running on the blade. This interface count does not support a fabric failover, and the service console must be migrated to the Cisco Nexus 1000V Series Switch along with all these other adapter types if any high-availability requirement exists.
